Emergency Assistance Program

The Emergency Assistance Program (EAP) is enacted in the event of a natural disaster or severe storm, enabling public power communities to restore power faster than other providers.

Each power agency has an EAP coordinator, who tracks severe weather, identifies communities in need of help, and matches communities in need with communities who have help to give. This system is most commonly implemented after hurricanes and winter storms.
